A missionary is someone sent by Jesus Christ just as Jesus was sent by God. Missionaries travel the world in order to complete the command made by Jesus before He ascended “19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age,” (Matthew 28:19-20). One of the most famous missionaries was the Apostle Paul who wrote 14 New Testament books. The job of a missionary is to preach the gospel not just in words but in Spirit and power (1 Corinthians 2:4) to people who have never heard the gospel or people who have heard and do not believe. Not all missionaries but the first missionaries also named the Apostles were all martyred with the exception of one. Unfortunately, when preaching the gospel in some places being martyred is still a possibility.
